Capone-N-Noreaga Collaborate With Faith Evans: Hood Pride
- Posted on: Monday August 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM
Legend has it, that before his landmark performance at Folsom Prison in 1968, Johnny Cash, on being told not to sing about anything that would remind the inmates they were in prison, replied "Ya think they forgot?"
It doesn't get much cooler than that.
No wonder then, that New York rappers Capone-N-Noreaga pay tribute to the Man In Black in their new video. "Hood Pride" is a collaboration with fellow East-Coaster Faith Evans - arguably one of the finest voices in R&B today - and while it's a bumpin', hands-in-the-air anthem, we are loving the fact that the duo aren't afraid to make us laugh as well.
Prepare for prison-based hilarity:
"Hold up! Jenny dead too." Classic...
"Hood Pride" is taken from Capone-N-Noreaga's latest album, The War Report 2; out now and featuring the likes of Nas, Raekwon and Busta Rhymes. No wonder they're so proud...

VIDEO: John Legend & The Roots in "Wake Up Everybody"

The dynamic duo John Legend and The Roots have done it again (we covered their song "The Fire" a while back) with a much more mellow video called "Wake Up Everybody" feat. Common and Melanie Fiona from their 2010 release Wake Up!. While somewhat organic in its visual content (i.e. loosely spitting out a bluesy R&B ditty on some NY steps), the message is inspiring. Check it out:

M.I.A. Gets Her Kisses On: XXXO
- Posted on: Thursday August 19, 2010 at 2:00 PM
Back in April, M.I.A. scared the b'jaysus out of us with her ultra-violent, crazy controversial, super explicit video for "Born Free": a clip so extreme it earned a ban from YouTube. It was a hell of a post-baby comeback, and when her hyper-political album, /\/\ /\ Y /\, was released last month, it was clear that the London artist was edgier than ever.
So, after all the blood, guts and exploding bodies of "Born Free", we couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when we saw her latest promo - for "XXXO", a tale of lust in the digital age.
Swans and stars and flowers and unicorns, oh my:
The astounding and genre-defying /\/\ /\ Y /\ is available now, through Interscope Records. And it's sweet as hell...
