History isn't relegated to that chunky textbook you detested in high school. A historical perspective is beneficial for us to take cues from past triumphs - and remind us not to make the same wicked mistakes. This applies to fashion just as much as it does war.
Thus, you've got to appreciate the blog Nerd Boyfriend for it's dope historical catalog of society's fashion greats ranging from dapper dandies like Tom Wolfe, laid-back barefoot Lee Perry, and tight-jeaned Jack Tripper. Since smart is as smart does - right below the vintage photographs of these saucy lads, the blog has placed their modern-day equivalents for easy reference as well as links for possible purchase. (Hey, this is America, people.)
Some examples?
Smoking jacket chic. Rudolph Valentino rocking the smartly-clad, pipe-toting armchair look in a three-piece suit with satin lapels. Check out that pipe, kids. Plus we love how the blazer they found below is dead-on for the one in the photograph!

Country Club Posh: Tennis mavericks Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet, Rene Lacoste and Jean Borotra may have inspired what has now made Polo Ralph Lauren millions. Smart white sneaks and slacks, sweaters layered over polos are always a winning combo with popped collars princes of society.
Pssst check out the HUGE old school alligator on Rene Lacoste's jacket. Stylin even back then.

Beach Boho: Ringo Starr must have gotten some summer-lovin' in those trunks because NB found a plethora of lookalikes. Guess the days of baggy butt-hangin' shorts are over. (And no girl is complaining about that.) His style equation is simple enough: sun, sand, skin-hugging swim trunks and some shaggy beach hair. Add a bit of bling around the neck and you've got some Beatles-worthy styling. Hot.
