Summer 2009 is going down as a season of weather extremes. While the luckiest of us are lizarding at the beach, far from the muggy heat of the city, our friends way up North in Canada are already itching to hit the slopes. That's what we call constructive foresight! :)
From September 17 to 21, Montreal will be hosting one of the most important sports event of the year: the IF3 International Freeski Film Festival.

In the country of winter, the IF3 festival brings together athletes, filmmakers, industry leader and fans alike for a long weekend of movies screenings & hot parties including world premieres of the top ski and freeski movies, free booze & celeb sightings. It has already been been dubbed by insiders as the 'Cannes Film Festival' of skiing.

Snow sports kids sure know how to throw a good party!

Rocking his way into what used to be called “snowboard parks” and half pipes, Northern star JP Auclair (above) has helped shape what is best known now as freeskiing.
Watch the preview of his new film:
Impressive, isn't it?
Oregon-based Sammy Carlson, a slopestyle specialist, will present the world premiere of a sick movie titled 'Can’t Stop'.

The footage showcases some of his best tricks from last season. Check it out!
Also not to miss: the world premiere of 'Transitions' on an outdoors stage in charming Old Montreal.
The film, focusing on X-Games gold medalist Simon Dumont, was directed by Riley Poor.

BTW, if you're into that whole scene, check out Zapiks.com, an awesome channel exclusively dedicated to extreme sports, for more breathtaking vids.
