Cocktails and dancing at the museum? Hell yeah! Especially when absinthe and a Hercules and Love Affair DJ set are on the menu. The Museum of Modern Art MiXX series, produced in partnership with Flavorpill & sponsored by Pernod Absinthe, premiered on Saturday of last week in New York City with a kickass blowout. Here's a recap in images.

The space started filling up at around 10pm...

There were few colorfully dressed groups of characters obviously well in the mood to party...

But mostly attractive well-kempt couples...

DJs filled the floor with jams, and the crowd climaxed when Hercules and Love Affair's Andy Butler played his 2009 hit "Blind".

Projected on the walls on the museum's upper floor, a black and white film in high def featuring a topless model smoking and costumed characters in psychedelic patterns in sexy boudoir scenes.

Everywhere, elegant yet complex designs were pulsing and rotating in sync with the music.

A couple glasses of absinthe could make you see things, or so they say...

Two more MoMA MiXX events are scheduled for January and April 2010. New Yorkers are well-rehearsed to party for a cause, and so ticket sales benefit the exhibition programming for The Museum of Modern Art and P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center.Check them out at www.moma.org/momamixx
